On Sunday, May 7, 2017, I will have the honor to run for one of America's fallen heroes. In 2016, Michael Stangelo, a United States marine, lost his battle with the demons that haunted him as a result of his tour in the Iraq war. He became one of the 22 American military veterans who take their own lives every day as a result of darkness that follows them home from their military service. Running the Flying Pig half-marathon in his memory and to promote awareness around mental illness, especially as it pertains to our veterans, is a priviledge.
